|Description:||Annexe Thesis Digitisation Project;During a survey of the aetiology of respiratory diseases in children throughout the winter of 1965 and 1966, it was found that 15 per cent, of 208 young children in the Edinburgh area had complement-fixing antibodies to C. burnetii. The purpose of the following study was to confirm this finding over a longer period of time, during 'which a total of 433 children were studied, and to establish that the complement-fixing antibodies were specific. The study also compares the incidence in children at the time of the study with adults at the same time and children in previous surveys in the same area and investigates possible sources of the infecting C. burnetii.;Other;MD Doctor of Medicine|
